Here's page 22 of Fusion #8, and Alanna's narration (which is, in fact, the transcription of the article she writes about this incident) continues.

OK, I was a little concerned Fusion wouldn't be able to pull off intimidating without being huge and flashy.

Now I think she's been taking Brooder lessons.

She's just starting. I think she's being a bit cautious--observing the situation before jumping in head-first.

Still,if she could, who can imagine Fusion being fifty foot tall and buck naked like Dr.Manhattan? Unless Essaybee has a problem with nudity?
EssayBee 1st Dec 2013, 12:10 PM edit delete reply
No problems with nudity in other circumstances (see my DeviantArt page), but this is an all-ages comic, and Savunn is a minor, so I'd have problems with nudity for both of those reasons.

Yeah, I think Savunn would be a little bothered by that as well. Costume screw-ups do happen, but I suspect Essay would be mindful enough to not embarrass the poor girl even further.

Fusion looks like she's ready to go all Batman on these murderous creeps.

Nice touch with making the militia soldiers in silhouette, really adds to the monstrous and inhuman persona groups like this emanate.
EssayBee 1st Dec 2013, 12:16 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, I decided to go with silhouettes long before starting work on the issue. But I wasn't thinking of de-humanizing the militia so much as I didn't want to make them too specific ethnically, since any culture is capable of such monstrous acts.

Interesting, I expected her to make a more attention attracting frontal attack. The question I don't know the answer to, is, "Could she kill, and what would that do to her psyche?" Bullets into her are nothing, but is she willing to kill to prevent killing?
DStaal 26th Nov 2013, 11:34 PM edit delete reply
I don't think she needs to, at least not here and now. They don't have any heavy armor, and she can take out their guns selectively. Once they are unarmed (and intimidated) she doesn't need to do anything else - the attack will stop.

It's always an interesting question, but I don't think it will come up here.
NoRAd 27th Nov 2013, 6:56 AM edit delete reply
That's a neat idea with the gun melting, I wonder if she's going to go in that direction. I was thinking she'd flash in all showy like and absorb bullets and scare them off.

Yes, Fusion is a no-kill superhero. As for the reason for the somewhat stealthy entry . . . She's just being a bit cautious. She needs to see the militia actually attempt something before she can move to stop it--she won't strike preemptively.

I think having Bob ride shotgun will help keep her from flying too far off the rails.

That said, Avatar Savunn has arrived. The militia might want to start running...
EssayBee 1st Dec 2013, 12:23 PM edit delete reply
Ha! I never even thought about the similarities between Fusion's and Aang's powered-up forms, which is surprising, since other design aspects of Avatar have had an influence on Fusion (e.g., the shadows on the characters' eyes under the top lid).
