Here's page 12 of Fusion #9, and the Steel Iraq-Nid gives Fusion a hint of what's heading her way.
Also, I finally set up a Facebook page for Fusion (and any other comics I might work on). You can find it at https://www.facebook.com/EssayBeeComicsFusion Hope you can stop by and "Like" Fusion. I also plan on posting some odds-and-ends there, so you may get and advanced look at some art and other projects there as well.
I tend to prefer non-douchebag heroes (although Batman's manipulative douchebaggery amuses me), and Fusion's world seems to be a fairly ideal superhero community, so you won't see many douchebag heroes (aside from Major Power, of course).
Hmm. Hard to tell tone in text like this, is she commenting on the perceived futility of her help, or angrily declaring that the Darmarian military is spitting into the wind by going against her?
I'm assuming the first, given her recent pseudo-breakdown, but she also seems to have recovered some from that, so that and her expression (looks like those eyebrows could be angry) makes the second believable.
I think the spit and wind comment is her opinion of how effective the Darmarian forces will be against her. She might be getting a bit of overconfidence because she really hasn't been challenged by anything she's faced yet.
Well glad to see Steel Iraq-Nid is a decent guy, just bound to their rules. Its rather unsettling that the Damarian Govt. will roll out the whole arsenal for RUMORS of a super in their borders, but not to deal with the roving militas butchering and raping their people. Then again I don't think you've specified if these militias are rebels they're ignoring or Govt-backed militias targeting a specific group of Damarians.
Could be anything. Unfortunately these African/Middle East-based militias need very little excuses for what they do.
And I also wonder if this is where Fusion might be in a spot of trouble. She does sound arrogant, if the guesses above about her comment are true. I mean outside of getting caught off guard by a (thankfully)childishly minded hypno villain, she's never really had any trouble with the foes she's faced. Guess we'll see how she fares against an army.
Back on page 22 of issue #7 (http://fusion.webcomic.ws/comics/202/), Alanna explains that it's government-backed militias doing the killing. A government that condones an ethnic purge isn't likely to step in to stop the violence.
Adam Conroy will talk about this a bit in his interview. However, one of the reasons the different superhero groups are international in membership (even though regionalized) is to deter national militarization of supers.
If they would do that, it'd be much more likely that the U.N. would pass some sort of resolution, perhaps permitting intervention from The Arabian Knights. And if the Knights are allowed to intervene, the Knights could also call in for help/assistance from any or ALL of the other 5 superhero groups. Regardless, things wouldn't go well for Darmar (and is again another reason the Darmarian government was quick to distance itself politically from the superhuman attack on the U.S. embassy at the beginning of Issue #6).
