Those are A LOT of helicopters!

Gotta love cut and paste for Photoshop (unless EssayBee don't use that program?!)

Cut and paste on something. Maybe Photoshop, maybe something else.

It's Photoshop. I did a template of helicopters from several different angles. As I've said before, I don't do well with vehicles, so I like to do vehicle templates of vehicles from several angles, so I can hopefully cut and paste instead of draw and redraw the darn things.

That is certainly well over a dozen.

Fortunately they don't seem to have any external weapon pods. Hard to tell if they have any armaments at all.

I'd be really scared if they were HINDs.

At least we can be sure none of the pilots are Liquid Snake...

What if each of them have a guy in the side door with a .50-cal machine gun? That could still hurt, but perhaps not for long.

Nutster--She faced down .50-cal guns back in Issue #4 without a problem. But I'm sure she'll be facing some more here as well.

Zodo--They're actually Chinese helicopters. And, yes, they're armed. (The lack of external pods is my mistake. I'll have to fix it at some point--and I'll likewise have to correct next week's page.)

Not having external weapon pods is a problem. The type of weaponry she's facing is key to the question of whether she can get out of this without killing anybody. Fusion can blow externally mounted weapons off the choppers with precision energy blasts. If the armament is internal, though, she'll have to shoot down the choppers.

So, would the music track for this page be "Flight of the Valkyries" or "Flight of the Bumble Bee"? XD

I am thinking the theme for Airwolf would be appropriate here. Just think of it; hidden weapon systems that deploy in flight when needed. It's a squadron of Airwolfs!

I'm inclined to not have good thoughts towards the official government, because this is over-reaction to a group of armed marauders getting knocked on their butts. Doesn't matter what the superpower threat is, there is no way that many players on the field won't involve death of civilians.

And I vote for "Flight of the Bumblebee."

I think the Darmarian government wants to send a strong message to any Supers who might be tempted to try something similar in the future. As for civilian casualties . . . since the government all but officially endorses the actions of the militias, I don't think the death of some (or a bunch) of targeted ethnic refugees would phase them. (Plus, I'm sure they'd blame any collateral damage on the illegal intervention of the Super.)

If Darmar had a secret superhuman army, would they be used as cannon fodder and would the UN,along with Adam Conroy, frown upon this?
EssayBee 21st May 2014, 9:38 AM edit delete reply

As a sovereign nation, I don't think Darmar would be breaking any international laws by creating a superhuman army (especially since it excludes itself from the international superpower laws/agreements). However, one of the reasons for the regionalization of Supers as well as a reason for the established Super Groups to be international was to deter national militarization of Supers (and create another Cold War, of sorts). I don't think any nation that creates a national Superhuman army would be looked on very favorably by the international community. This will come up a bit in the next story arc (i.e., after Issue #11).

Are you reading Grrl Power? Mind you, that is supposed to be a super-powered police force, more than a super-powered military force.

I concur, it's worth the read. :)

Grrl Power is a very different type of comic, but there is some overlap in the perspective.

internal or external weapons make little difference. one has a cover, the other doesn't. it isn't like the weapons are hiding behind the engines or pilots or anything, precision shots still work (as long as you know where to hit). of course with her being powered up they probably lack anything that can harm her in any way, so if all they want to do is attack fusion, then she just has to stay away from the refugees to avoid collateral damage and stay powered up for the 20 minutes or so that they have ammo.

If she were to target the tail rotors on the choppers she could force them to land. She is much faster and more maneuverable. All that would need to be done is affect the side thrust by say trimming the blades blades by half. The purpose of the tail rotor is a lever to counter balance the spinning of the main blade against the chassis of the chopper. If you only affected some of the tail rotor blades, it sets up an unbalanced occiliation and they would not be able to fluctuate the main rotor power to fast enough compensate for it. As the rear rotor looses thrust the chopper will begin to rotate, and this rotation robs velocity from the main rotor and lift from the blades.
