Interesting that Adam Conroy was in love only to lose his girl! I wonder if he had ANY encounters with the woman who would the biological mother of Savunn Adams?
Black Rose--It's not likely he ever met Savunn's mom; Brooder began stalking the streets of Atro City approximately 8 years before Savunn was born, so Savunn's mom probably wasn't even a teenager when Adam was in Thailand.
Thank you for clarifying that... I read the article and audibly said, "No... no way..." at my desk (I'm at work). Still... while my next question is exactly how old is Adam Conroy? My brain is in the mood to try and tie things together. I could be completely wrong, but Adam's age (and Narri's ) could answer my next question...
Adam's in his early/mid-50s during Fusion. (Next page, Alanna will mention him being in his 40s, but this article was from 7 years ago.) He was in Thailand during his mid- to late 20s. Brooder first appeared in Atro City when Adam was 29. Narri was a few years younger than Adam.
Savunn is 16, so Adam was around 37 when she was born (a little over 8 years after Narri's death).
So Savunn is close enough to the right age and close enough to the right ethnic group to spark some what-should-have-beens for Brooder, and it went right over her teenage head. :)
About those superhuman laws Conroy mentioned, will there be some unfriendly country that'll try to find a "loophole" of some kind and secretly raise an army of superhumans?
The superhero groups have some autonomy, so they're meant to self-police. The membership is diverse enough that any shenanigans would probably be noticed. Countries trying to insert their interests in the group would hopefully be noticed and reported very quickly. Countries that take issue with the actions of a group can always opt-out of participation (as Darmar has done), but then they'd effectively ban superhero aid (although they could always request aid on a case-by-case basis, but the bureaucracy involved could delay aid).
if one did opt out, what would prevent them from going the route of their own superhero group (one that served only their interests)? seems the way to create a super hero army, though the path would have to be done carefully and slowly to get away from it (too fast or bold would get other nations involved before it got off the ground, like nuclear weapons of today).
The biggest deterrent would be that they'd face the combined might of all nations and the regional superhero group if they started trouble. Then the other nations could get U.N. involvement, and the regional group could call for aid from the other superhero groups. Pretty much the same thing that would happen with any rogue nation. Unless they had a Super who was super powerful and he/she wouldn't simply fly off to get out of an oppressive country, a country would only invite trouble.
