Here's page 1 of Fusion #13, and the events at the end of the last issue are still very much on Fusion's mind.

I wonder if Fusion will do some serious rethinking of her heroic career???

Would that stop bad things from happening? She's already saved hundreds of people - including the world's biggest hero. The fact that the bad guys are stepping up their game (or came with Bob...) doesn't invalidate her actions.

True. But last issue was pretty much the first time Fusion was "on scene" and unable to stop folks from dying. It doesn't invalidate what she's done before, but that's small consolation for the losses at present.

If Fusion were to reconsider her heroic career, what decisions would she make?

Black Rose--At this point, I think it'd be way outside her character and personality to seriously reconsider being a superhero. It'd take something truly horrible to make her consider hanging up her supersuit. That said, many heroes at some point do come across such a point in their careers, and this is the final story arc...

I want to ask about Captain Stupendous, mostly his alter ego...
Rev.Don Reaves(X-pletive)refered to him as Calvin,so is his last name Watterson as in the creator of Calvin and Hobbes?!?!?
Is his occupation a patent attorney???

Black Rose--You can find character names in the Star Wars parody ad (http://fusion.webcomic.ws/comics/45/). The name Calvin Lane works on several levels. But, yes, the Calvin/Stupendous combination is a nod to Calvin and Hobbes (but there's another reason I wanted his name to be Calvin).

So his last name is NOT Watterson and he's not even a patent attorney like Calvin's dad and creator Bill Watterson's father?

It's a sad, and inevitable, aspect of being a superhero. Eventually they have to learn the hard way they can't save everyone. Even if you think you understand this, it catches you by surprise.

I understand it but it's also something that doctors and nurses and rescue personnel have to come to terms with as well it's not strictly a superhero realization. Anyone who does any kind of Public Service eventually is faced with a situation where the person in question is unsavable. Oftentimes because of their own choices not the choice of the responding personnel.
