I generally enjoy The Flash, but this kind of annoyed me from a story/character perspective. I have no problem with the musical gag (in fact, I think the musical aspect was underplayed), but the past few weeks with the on again-off again engagement just felt forced and ridiculous. In retrospect, it seems pretty obvious that Barry and Iris broke up just so they could make up in such "cutesy" fashion at the end of the musical episode, which--to me--is a whole lot of unnecessary and unrealistic drama and wasted time that could've been spent more constructively on something more worthwhile. Heck, the whole lesson Music Meister teaches (that Flash needs to allow himself to be saved) was great and very worthy of exploration, but it was essentially lost in the melodrama of the Barry/Iris engagement. I really hope they move on from the "will they or won't they get together" relationship. I like Barry and Iris together and only wish the writers knew how to write a functional relationship instead of constantly finding some ridiculous reason to pause and reset it. (I'm keeping my fingers crossed that--short of Iris "dying" in the season finale--there won't be any more "break-ups." But if she dies, just to come back next season now afraid to be with Barry and they break up again or with some sort of amnesia so that Barry has to make her fall in love with him again, I'm going to throw something at the TV.)
